Fiercely Divine

Motherhood opens doors you never thought could open.

 

As a woman, you often hear that if you want to do something with your life, like having a career or learning, you should do it before having kids. This patriarchal notion programmed a paralysing fear within me.

I literally feared becoming a mom. I thought once I procreated, life would be over.

 

But this solo mom got the surprise of her life.

 

Holding her little body in my hands, and knowing that I was her entire world, was the most loving kick in the butt the universe ever gave me. It dared me to rise to the occasion and reclaim the confidence that had been buried under years of self-doubt.

 

Life is too short to waste on things that aren't your calling.

 

I gained faith in my ability to run a business that would empower folx by offering fierce, body-positive spells in the form of wearable art.

 

While my baby slept, I learned how to paint and fix silk.

 

I started the Fiercely Divine collection, featuring my favourite feminist symbol: The Toothed Yoni. They helped me find my own power at the centre of my deepest vulnerability.

 

I love this motif because it represents a universal metaphor for personal growth and transformation through accepting all aspects of female-identified experience.

 

The juxtaposition of sharp teeth with a life giving, flower shaped vulva offers a multi-layered and empowering reading of what it means to define oneself as a womxn. It's also a fun take on the patriarchal fear of castration.
