The Biting Panties were born when I first became a mother. There are no guidelines for the difficult aspects of motherhood, so I turned to the power of art to come to terms with my new role and self. Painting panties was also very practical, because I could put them away when my baby needed me, and continue later.
 

I wasn't prepared that it was normal for a new mother to feel angry or depressed, or that a first birth in later years could trigger peri-menopause.

 

While creating the Biting Panties collection, I saw how the system we live in has formatted the suppression of the feminine within me – within us all, regardless of gender. The essence of that healing has been the recognition of our connection with everything around.

I believe that remembering that we are communal beings, woven from the same sacred thread of life, is medicine for today's burning world. It's the gift of our mothers, grandmothers and ancestresses, without whose abused wombs we wouldn't be here.

And I also discovered aspects in me which needed to be released, the rage, sadness, and self determination transmuted into a prayer of love through artistic expression.

Creating and wearing the Biting Panties helped me find my own fierce power at the center of my deepest vulnerability.

It is my intention that wearing or displaying these pieces will be an empowering inspiration to you as you reconnect with your inner goddess.
