Trees of Dreams Installation

During my stay at the Artist Village (Künstlerdorf) in Schöppingen, I was introduced to the lovely people at Chance, an organization based in Gronau, Germany, that helps  jobless people and refugees with bettering their situation. They were looking for a fit way to celebrate their 20th anniversary and invited me to do an installation for the celebration event on May 8th., 2014.
The installation, "Trees of Dreams," was inspired by the universally shared customs of people the world over to hand something on a tree as a sign of hope and prayer for a dream to come true. The colors I used, red, black, blue, white and green-yellow, are similarly important in cultures around the globe. We all share the same hopes and even customs, no matter how different our dreams are! And last but not least, the installation used recycled materials - ribbons for 3 German football teams which may be fight on the field but coexisted peacefully on 13 still leafless platain trees in Chance's garden.
What a great chance to enjoy making an installation outdoors, in communion with nature and for a good cause!
